Airdri’s 2018 Charity Partnership

At Airdri we’ve developed a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Plan with the ultimate objective of providing us with opportunities to positively contribute to our local community in Oxfordshire. This will predominantly be achieved by volunteering and fundraising for a local charity (or other worthy organisation) and offering work-based opportunities to service users with the goal of helping to improve their quality of life.

In line with this objective, earlier this year our Charity Committee was formed and, in consultation with our Board of Directors, decided that Yellow Submarine would become our charity partner for 2018. They are an excellent fit for us; based in Oxfordshire (with social enterprise cafes in both central Oxford and Witney in West Oxfordshire) and developed by a creative entrepreneur whose family remain closely tied its operations, their history and ethos reflects our own.

Their vision is simple: they believe that people with learning disabilities and autism deserve to live life to the full. Their person-centered approach starts with assessing the needs of children as young as 11 years-old, and the individual support they provide continues long into adulthood, creating uniquely strong bonds between staff and service users. You can find out more about Yellow Submarine’s work here.

Over the course of 2018 we will be organising a number of events, initiatives and donations to fundraise for the charity as well as offering workplace tours and sheltered work experience for its service users.
