SteraSpace

Here at Airdri, we recently launched a ground-breaking range of air and surface sanitiser units, which are set to revolutionise how businesses approach infection control in the workplace.

Giving companies an affordable new way to protect staff against the transmission of viruses, the pioneering technology applied to the SteraSpace units has been independently tested by the UK public health laboratories at Porton Down. Initial efficacy data has demonstrated extremely positive results in both the reduction of harmful toxins in the air and on surfaces, as well as much lower levels of employee absence through sickness.

How does it work?

The new range of Airdri SteraSpace Air & Surface Sanitisers provide 24/7 infection and odour control by sanitising surrounding air and exposed surfaces. The units combine Photo Catalytic Disinfection (PCD), Germicidal Irradiation and Dual Waveband UV technology to create the most advanced virus and bacteria control technology of its kind. This offers a unique and highly effective way to eliminate bacteria, mould, fungi, viruses, dust mites, allergens, and harmful VOCs to result in clean, healthy air and surfaces in the workplace.

The combination of Photo Catalytic Disinfection (PCD), Germicidal Irradiation and Dual Waveband UV technologies produce a plasma of Targeted ozone, Superoxide Ions and Hydroxyl Radicals that effectively eliminate bacteria, viruses, mould fungi and odours.

By combining these three advanced technologies a continuous flow of disinfecting plasma is released into the air which eliminates 98.11% of airborne and 99.6% of surface micro-organisms and it works in under 60 minutes.

Why choose SteraSpace?

The SteraSpace units are economical to run, suitable to various spaces and make for a fantastic eco-friendly way of protecting staff against the transmission of viruses.

Depending on the size of the room, the cost of installing an air sanitisation unit starts at around £250 and once installed the unit can work continuously in the background, constantly sanitising the area and surfaces in the room. After the initial installation fee, the units cost in the region of just £2 per month to run, with an annual outlay of around £50 for a new bulb.

The range includes four units, suitable for varying environments, from washrooms, to offices, medical practices, and care homes. Featuring compact profiles and a choice of colours, the units are discrete, yet can service floor areas of up to 80m2.

With minimal maintenance and low energy consumption of 10 watts, the SteraSpace range is a green solution for delivering constant sanitised air and surfaces.

Key takeaways of the SteraSpace at a glance

1. Effectively removes viruses, bacteria, mould, fungi & odours

2. Cleans deep into fabrics, prolongs life of carpets and soft furnishings

3. Eliminates need for masking agents

4. Can help to reduce staff absenteeism and agency costs

5. Improves environment for residents, staff and visitors

Our group director of R&D and operations, Steve Whittall talks about the new range:

“We’re extremely proud of both the effectiveness of the product, but also the speed at which we have been able to test and prove its effectiveness and bring the range to market; for that I would like to thank the dedicated team we have here at Airdri.

“Not only has SteraSpace been proven by independent scientific tests to almost eliminate airborne micro-organisms, but when used in a real-life setting it was shown to significantly reduce absenteeism in the workplace through a reduction in the spread of disease from person to person.

“Unlike other routes to infection control such as chemical fogging, SteraSpace can be used continuously in the background creating cleaner, fresher air throughout the day. Once installed it is extremely affordable with very low energy consumption. It really is one of the best ways that businesses, both those continuing to operate throughout lockdown and those looking to increase safety and assurance for the return of employees and customers, can create safer workplaces for everyone.”
